Whether it’s a heavy, grinding ache at the base of your skull or a sharp pinch in your shoulder every time you reach overhead – upper body pain makes everyday life exhausting.

You spend your day rolling your head around, digging your fingers into your upper traps, or trying to stretch out a shoulder that feels stuck, catching, or completely locked up. You might get a few minutes of relief, but the second you get back to driving, working, or lifting, that exact same pain flares right back up.

Why rubbing your neck and digging into your shoulders never actually lasts

Here’s the thing most people miss: where you feel the pain is rarely where the tension actually starts.

Getting real, immediate relief in your upper body comes down to two things:
1. Targeting the precise trigger points that instantly drop tension and shut down nagging ache.
2. Releasing the hidden tension centers across the rest of your upper body that keep pulling your shoulders out of alignment in the first place.

You also can’t retrain your posture or improve how you move if your body is physically locked up. Trying to force good posture or do strength exercises on top of bound-up, restricted tissue is like driving with the handbrake on.

You have to create space, freedom, and comfort in the tissues and joints first. Once you release that deep tightness, your shoulders naturally settle back into place, your head feels weightless, and better movement becomes effortless.

In this programme, you will learn the exact release framework I use with my 1:1 clients – giving you the precise techniques to instantly relieve pain, unlock restricted shoulders, and keep your upper body moving comfortably for life.

What you will achieve:
→ Relieve neck & shoulder tension: Target deep muscular tightness across your shoulders, chest, neck, and upper back.
→ Restore full shoulder mobility: Improve your overall range of motion so reaching, lifting, and moving feel fluid and pain-free.
→ Improve posture & alignment: Open up tight chest muscles and reset your upper body position so sitting and standing feel effortless.
→ Move freely again: Reduce headaches, migraines, and stiffness linked to neck and shoulder tension.
→ Get back to the things you love without your neck and shoulders holding you back.

This approach is already helping people move better
Neck & Shoulders: Sweet Release brings the corrective movement framework I use with 1:1 clients into a self-paced video programme – so you get the exact exercises I use to restore mobility and eliminate pain for clients, without needing to meet in person

“I now have significantly better shoulder mobility and most importantly no pain when weight bearing. I previously wouldn’t have thought this possible, especially without meeting in person. I’m so grateful to Cara.”

Why this approach is different
I’m Cara, creator of In-Tension and Corrective Movement Specialist. After a life-changing BMX crash in my teens left me on bed rest and relying on a walking frame, I spent years battling chronic back pain. That struggle drove me to earn a Master of Health Science, master the fundamental mechanics of how the human body restores balance, and spend the last decade helping clients solve their own “tricky” pain cases.

I built this programme to give you a clear, self-paced framework that addresses the root causes of tension – helping you free restricted joints, rebalance muscle loading, and learn how to keep your own body moving comfortably for life.

How do "online" programmes work and how can I use them?
These are digital courses (no 1:1 or face-to-face consulting needed). You simply follow the guided videos at your own pace, from the comfort of your own home (or wherever you like!).

Each programme will guide you through a series of individual exercises (as well as educate you along the way) and you will quickly learn what your body needs the most. Through this, you are building your own bullet-proof personalised toolkit that you can use for life.

Decide on the programme for you. Purchase, and then follow the email prompts to get to your member login on the IN-TENSION website.

You can access your programmes here at any time, and you will also have a PDF that you can print out or save to your phone/computer.
Who can benefit from the IN-TENSION programmes?
My programmes are suitable for anyone looking to reduce pain, improve mobility, optimise their posture, and feel their best. Whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, stiffness, or simply want to improve your posture and overall body mechanics.

They are highly accessible. Not every exercise within each programme will suit every body – that’s natural, because we’re all different. That’s exactly why I include a variety of intensities, progressions, and alternative options. I am confident that what YOU need, is in there.
Who created the IN-TENSION programmes?
Each programme is designed by me, Cara – a Corrective Movement Specialist (and Accredited Exercise Phyisologist). I’ve lived with chronic pain and movement challenges, so I truly understand what it’s like. My programmes are built on evidence-based principles and years of hands-on work with clients, designed to give you practical, effective tools to reduce pain and move confidently. You’re in capable, caring hands.
Can I use the programmes if I have a chronic condition?
Yes! My programmes are designed to be gentle, versatile, and effective, making them suitable for people with chronic pain or conditions that affect movement. However, I always recommend consulting with your healthcare provider before beginning any new exercise routine, especially if you have a medical condition.
Do I need any special equipment to follow the programmes?
No special equipment is required within my IN-TENSION programmes. You’ll be guided through exercises that use your body weight or simple household items. I sometimes will include specialty tools such as a foam roller, however I also recommend easy-to-find alternatives.
Can I get personalised advice through the programme?
My online programmes are fully self-guided, so they do not include personalised advice. However, I do offer personalised consultations for those seeking tailored advice. I can work with you to create an individualised plan that addresses your specific needs and challenges. Personalised support can be organised via my book/contact page or you can email me at cara@intension.co.nz
